Demagnetizing in toolmaking, stamping tooling

In toolmaking, residual magnetism is a disturbance variable that can lead to production interruptions or even tool breakage. Punching/stamping tools are increasingly affected in this respect, because punching residues in waste holes can become clogged due to magnetic adhesion. The article provides a technical overview of the challenges arising from residual magnetism in the use of punching tools. The current state of the art in magnetic field measurement and demagnetization is explained. More effective possibilities for demagnetization are shown.
